When uploading images, users are expected to adhere to certain guidelines, outlined below.
Image quality[]
On most pages, actual screenshots from the series are preferable (as opposed to, say, a promotional still). The entire shot is also preferred, though if by chance the character only takes up a small, relatively unimportant part of the screen, then it's simply smart practice to crop it to focus on them.
The image is also expected to be of decent quality. 720p quality is the minimum we like, but 1080p images are the best (NB: this refers to its original resolution, not a stretched image).
Categorizing[]
As with pages, we like to keep our images uniformly categorized.
- For images of characters, use
[[Category:Images of NAME]]
, replacing NAME with the character's name, for each of the appearing characters. - For promotional images, use
[[Category:Promotional images]]
(or[[Category:Promotional stills]]
on the appropriate ones). - For those that are only intended to be used on a user page, use
[[Category:User images]]
. - Photos of cast and crew members use
[[Category:Images of cast and crew]]
. - Screenshots from episodes should be categorized into
[[Category:Images from EPISODE]]
, replacing EPISODE with the appropriate one.
Filetype[]
When it cames to filetype, any type is acceptable. Althought, the most prefered type is PNG, then JPG, and in some case, GIF. However, for screenshots of episodes or character profile, we preferably to use PNG filetypes, as it allows for better quality images due to its lossless compression. Be aware that your image may be deleted and/or replaced with the same image but in PNG format for this very reason.
Naming of images[]
Name images correctly and appropriately, just use common sense. You'd think this would be blindingly obvious, but so many people don't actually do it. We'd rather not have images with names like "DCM-##111972.png" or "A-holland.png".
