The Temple of Azarath is a temple underneath Fire Creek dam in the North Metro Quadrant of Metropolis created and devoted to the worship of Trigon, his offspring, and the use of occult powers. It is currently used by the Church of Blood.

History

Who originally built the temple is currently unknown, however at some point in history a dam near the cities of Metropolis was built on top of the temple and named Fire Creek.

Some time after 2019, May Bennett began working with Lex Luthor and together they discerned both the location of the temple and uncovered it. May informed Lex that through the temple the gods would soon know his name. Lex abruptly fires her and swears her to secrecy.

Following Lex's death, May retakes control over the temple and it serves as a base for her Church of Blood.

Using the pool of blood, Sebastian Sanger unlocks his powers as the cambion son of Trigon.

Appearance

The temple is constructed of dark stone in an arc formation, lit by fire and by yellow lighting. It has a number of prominent, large stone effigies of ravens with glowing red eyes, and near the entrance there are two small podiums used as tables. In the center of the temple there is a circular pool filled with blood and surrounded by ancient runes, and towards the back there is a slot for Mother Mayhem's staff and a dais with a throne.

Trivia

• In the episode Lex Luthor (episode), May states that she has dedicated over five years of her life to finding the temple, however it is later revealed in Super Super Mart that she was incarcerated at Agnews Asylum until 2019. Either she is lying, was somehow working with Gina on finding it while captive, or this is a continuity error.
• In DC Comics, the Temple of Azarath is a city in an interdimensional realm where Rachel Roth was born and raised.
• In the show, Rachel Roth's mother, Angela uses 'Azarath' as her surname.
• Azarath is the first word of the mystical chant "Azarath, Metrion, Zinthos", used by the Church of Blood, by the Organization and famously by Rachel Roth in DC comics and other adaptations.
• The dam, and therefore the Temple, is noted to be near Hynek Lake approximately forty miles north of S.T.A.R. Labs, discerned when the Church of Blood attempted to hack LexCorp servers and in turn revealed their location to the Titans.
