The Surgical EKG Detonation Implant is a Wayne Enterprises patented prototype bomb. The explosive has anti-retraction barbs that connect to the heart and the bomb uses the victim's EKG signals to countdown. The device was designed to outperform the military's most sophisticated electromagnetic explosives.

History

Specs for the Detonation Implant.

Jason Todd tricks Hank Hall into an ambush and implants to the Surgical EKG Detonation Implant into Hall. Todd then issues the Titans an ultimatum ordering them to rob $50 million of gold bars or let Hank die. After the Titans learn how the bomb works they give Hank beta-blockers and put him in a relaxing setting to try and delay the countdown. Dick Grayson has a consultation with Dr. Jonathan Crane which leads him to conclude that the device came from Wayne Enterprises. Grayson returns to the team and has Conner use the Wayne Tech schematics to start to build a deactivator for the bomb. Dawn Granger grows impatient waiting and decides to rob the gold bar supplies and turn them over to Jason. During the drop-off, Todd then issues another ultimatum demanding that Dove shoot him. Todd secretly hid the trigger to the bomb in the pistol so when Dawn took a shot at him it activated the bomb detonation killing Hank before Connor could use his deactivator to disarm it.

Crane later uses an implant on Doctor Christine Bell in an attempt to eliminate her and prevent her from revealing the secrets of the Shortwave Positron Multiplier‎. The Titans find Dr. Bell and Connor creates a deactivator and successfully disarms the explosive before the countdown was complete.

Crane again used the bomb implant on an electrician and used Oracle to lure Grayson into a trap. Scarecrow modified the bomb so it could not be deactivated.
