Biography[]

Early life[]

Not much is known about Sebastian's early life only that he was born in 1998 to May Bennett and Trigon, and fostered away.[3]

When Sebastian was around nine years old, he came into the care of his foster mother Sandra Sanger; he was given his own room, to his delight, and gifted a red Game Boy Advance AGS-101 that he eagerly accepted. Some time later, Sandra fostered another child, Lila, and due to her injured eye and being more sickly than him, Sebastian was asked by Sandra to give up his warmer room to Lila. She also asked Sebastian to share the Game Boy with Lila, which Sebastian reluctantly did so, and was told her was a good boy. Sebastian was either fostered in England prior to his return to America, or acquired the accent from having lived with Sandra for some time.

While studying coding in school, Sebastian identified a simpler way to complete the line of code being taught by his teacher Mr. Ross and interrupted class to demonstrate. Sebastian was mocked by another student as being 'lame', and Mr. Ross sarcastically cheered for him. Sebastian was later held back after the class ended and demoted back to the basics of coding, with Mr. Ross explaining that Sebastian needed to fully understand the fundamentals before he started cutting corners.[5]

Adulthood[]

During a shift at his Taxidermy, Sebastian met Julie and asked her if she needed help with anything. The two hit it off and Julie visited Sebastian every day for six months while they dated. At some point during this time, Sebastian introduced Julie to his foster mother, Sandra. The night of their sixth month anniversary, the couple went on a date and Sebastian admitted to having forgotten it was their anniversary which Julie had predicted and didn't mind. Julie recounted their first meeting and her thoughts on him, telling him he was the loneliest man she had ever seen and wanted to change that, and gifts him a red Game Boy like the one Sandra had given him as a child. Instead of being happy, Sebastian got upset and felt pitied, and abruptly broke up with Julie to her shock.

Some time after separating from Julie, Sebastian arranged a meeting with potential investors for his game and practiced his pitch in the Taxidermy where he worked. During work, Sebastian was terrified to see blood begin to pour from the eye of the taxidermy fox he was working on, and when he retreated to the bathroom saw in the mirror his reflection moving independently from him: his reflection smiled and held up a hand, gradually becoming bathed in blood as Mother Mayhem's cult could be heard chanting in the background.[6]

Meeting May[]

Ahead of his meeting, Sebastian visited Sandra at Silvergrove Residence, an elderly care home in Metropolis, to tell her about his fortune. To his dismay, Sandra asked after Julie and claimed men needed a good woman beside them, but she doesn't notice when this upset him and lied that Julie was busy and could not visit. Attempting to tell his mother he was going to change the world, Sebastian was disappointed to find Sandra distracted by her television show and thanked her when she encouraged him by saying there was nothing he couldn't do if he set his mind to it.

Some days later, Sebastian attended his pitch meeting with a board of potential investors, but failed to impress them. They questioned how the game could be marketable, and during their feedback Sebastian began to hallucinate that the board were covered in blood and that one woman was consuming raw flesh. In terror, Sebastian ran out of the meeting, leaving the board bemused. When he visited his mother again, he arrived to an empty room and May Bennett, disguised as a nurse, informed him that Sandra had passed that morning and that they couldn't get into contact with him sooner. She left him alone in the room to grieve, and as Sebastian screamed she smiled.[7]

Following Sandra's cremation, Sebastian scattered her ashes across a bay and received a surprise call from Derek Sands, one of the investors, whom had reconsidered and wanted to arrange a follow up meeting. Delighted, Sebastian agreed, and after hanging up, it was revealed that the call had instead come from May; disguising her voice as Derek's in order to lure Sebastian into a trap.

Sebastian was met with confusion and threats of security when he arrived to the board member's office, as Derek seemed to have no idea what he was talking about when he tried to explain he had been called there. Taken under control by May, Derek stabbed himself in the eyes with a pair of scissors in front of Sebastian and as Sebastian screamed for help, Derek died. Sebastian was arrested on suspicion of Derek's murder, and while in police custody formerly met May. May told him she was there to help him and tried to get him to repeat Trigon's chant "Azarath, Metrion, Zinthos", however they were interrupted before Sebastian could finish by the arrival of Conner Kent bursting through the wall and stealing Sebastian away. Sebastian got into Dick Grayson's car and was driven away from the scene.[7]
