Malcolm was a friend of Hank Hall's in the afterlife until his soul was consumed by ghouls.

Death and Afterlife[]
Malcolm is consumed by a ghoul.
At some point, Malcolm passed away and found himself in the afterlife. Once there, he eventually made friends with Hank Hall. Some time later, Hank rescue Donna Troy and Tim Drake from ghouls, leading them back to his safe house on the way to find a bridge back to Earth. Once there, Hank introduced Donna and Tim to Malcolm. They were soon attacked, with Malcolm being taken by the ghouls. In a panic, Hank managed to summon two pistols and kill the ghouls, avenging the loss of Malcolm. The three survivors managed to make it to the bridge, with Hank staying behind to allow the others to escape. Hank soon reunited with his brother, Don.[1]
